HARBANS SINGH - Founder of Ubicomp System
Harbans has been involved in the hospitality business since 1985 and became a HFTP Hall of Fame inductee in 2013. His earliest days were as a field engineer in NCR. He subsequently moved into hospitality software installation and support and then sales. In 1988, he set up the regional operations for Computerized Lodging Systems (CLS), Inc. USA in Asia, this being the first commercially successful hotel management system which ran on the Unix platform. During this time, he also managed to grow CLS into a leading supplier of hospitality technology in Asia with over 300 installations.
Since 1988, Harbans has seen the company which he set up in 1988, CLS, evolve into many forms, including a management buyout of the operations in 1995 by him and his partners. In 2002, he merged his company with Hotel Information Systems (HIS), Inc. USA and became President of HIS Asia. HIS used to be a leading systems provider for hotels globally. In 2006, after a successful four years, this operations was acquired by SoftBrands, Inc. USA and he continued as President Asia Pacific, Middle East, until his voluntary departure in December 2008. At the time of leaving, HIS/SoftBrands had over 800 customers in Asia Pacific and he was also responsible for acquiring the most prestigious hotel account in the world, the Burj Al Arab, under Jumeirah International.
Over the years, Harbans has been very actively involved in industry developments and also was a constant speaker in hospitality conferences across Asia-Pacific and Middle East. His main passion centered on the use of technology to improve guest services and he constantly advocated the dawn of a new era of hospitality solutions.
It is with this belief that Harbans decided to leave his illustrious and successful career to venture out on his own in order to be able to personally articulate and develop the next generation systems for the hospitality industry, focusing on providing solutions for Hoteliers/ Owners.
In recognition of Harbans' contribution to Hospitality technology, Harbans was inducted into the prestigious HFTP Hall of Fame in June, 2013 in Minneapolis, USA, being the first Asian to be ever inducted into this exclusive club!
MOHAMMAD ANSAR RASHID - Director
Ansar Rashid, a professionally qualified accountant has for the last 23 years held the position of Director of Finance of The Pan Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur, a 550-room deluxe hotel. Prior to this he was attached to the Hilton Hotel for 10 years and held various accounting positions in the Kuala Lumpur Hilton and the Petaling Jaya Hilton. He has extensive experience in the hotel industry related to accounting, administrative, hotels pre-opening management, management agreement negotiations, system implementations and improvement, collective agreement negotiating, hotel internal audits, budget administration, etc.
He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, ACMA (UK), The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, ACIS (UK), The Malaysian Institute of Accountants, CA (M). He also holds an MBA from Cranfield Institute of Technology, (UK).
Ansar currently also provides consulting services for hotels on financial operations and audits. His long association with the local industry and his familiarity with its key drivers, provides a valuable resource to the Company.
CHUA KAI YEONG – Chief Technology Officer
Kai Yeong has been with Ubicomp System since 2009 and is instrumental in driving the development of the Qikinn© Application Framework for the Company together with his team. He has over 15 years of experience in development after his graduation from University of Malaya with a BSc in Electrical Engineering in 1999.
Over the years, Kai Yeong has been involved in the development of various applications which include the following:
- Hotel Management System
- Central Reservations System
- Hotel Online Booking System
- Real Time Video Editing
- Yellow Pages Advertisement Software
Kai Yeong is well versed with the technology deployed by the company and has been a critical part in the selection process. He works closely with the ownership to ensure that product development can be leveraged in meeting changing industry demands.
Prior to joining Ubicomp, Kai Yeong was working with Hotel Information Systems as Senior Analyst, where he learnt the complexities of the hospitality business and also the requirements for online booking systems.
WILLIAM BRIAN KRETZMER - Partner/ Chairman
Brian has spent his career in technology, product strategy and development. He has been in the hospitality business since 1986. From 1991-1996 and from 1999-2006 he was with MAI Systems Corp who acquired CLS, HIS and LodgingTouch and traded under the name Hotel Information Systems from 1999 onward. After a brief stint away from the company he returned in 1999 as CEO & President restructured MAI and focused solely on the Hospitality space, merging the three platforms (CLS-HIS-LodgingTouch) as epitome) and began the development of the first java based fully integrated Enterprise system for the industry, HIS CORE.
In 2004, he led a small group of investors in a management buyout of MAI, taking the company from public status to private. In August 2006, after a courtship with SoftBrands (now part of INFOR) the company was sold. Mr. Kretzmer as part of that transaction agreed to a five year non-compete. Since its expiration in 2011 Mr. Kretzmer has been consulting to various hospitality and non-hospitality businesses.
He currently serves as Executive Chairman of a US based manufacturer and is on the Board of Directors of J2 Global, a leading cloud based provider of technology based services. He holds an MBA Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University and has many years of M&A and restructuring experience. He has more than 35 years of experience in technology with 28 of those years in solutions that support the Hospitality industry.
Presented with the opportunity to work with Mr. Singh with whom he has had a long work history as a colleague and as an advisor, Brian joined the company in 2014 as a partner. Mr. Kretzmer resides in Southern California.
YONG FEE MING – Vice President, Operations
Yong Fee Ming has served as Vice President, Operations of UbiQ Global Solutions since 2013. In her capacity, Fee Ming is responsible for managing and strengthening the total operations of the company. She is also responsible for the QA and deployment of Qikinn©
Application Suite. Fee Ming brings more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the system integration and project management for club and hospitality industry to UbiQ.
Before joining UbiQ, Fee Ming held various Technical positions in a number of hospitality technology companies, including Computerized Lodging Systems (CLS), Hotel Information Systems (HIS), SoftBrands and Infor Hospitality. She had also successfully developed and deployed Club Membership System in some prestigious clubs in Asia.
Fee Ming holds a BSc Computer Information System from Arkansas State University, USA.
KENNETH TOH – General Manager
Kenneth Toh joined UbiQ Global Solutions in 2011 as General Manager based in Singapore. In his role, Kenneth is responsible for all aspects of sales, project delivery and success. He is also responsible for Channel partner appointment and management in S.E Asia.
Prior to joining UbiQ, Kenneth spent 12 years working in various Technical and Sales positions at Hotel Information Systems which was acquired by SoftBrands and later Infor Hospitality. He was the Director of Sales and Major Account Manager for Ascott Group, Frasers Hospitality and Far East Organization.
PHYLLIS YEO – Regional Marketing Manager
Phyllis Yeo joined UbiQ Global Solutions in 2011 as Regional Marketing Manager, responsible for all marketing and communications activities of the company. She has over 20 years of regional marketing and communications experience in the hospitality technology industry.
Prior to joining UbiQ, Phyllis was Marketing Manager, Asia Pacific with Infor Hospitality, a company that acquired SoftBrands. She previously served as Marketing Manager, Asia Pacific in a number of hospitality technology companies, including Computerized Lodging Systems (CLS) which acquired by Hotel Information Systems (HIS) in 2002 and subsequently by SoftBrands in 2006.
Phyllis has a degree in Marketing and also holds The Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK post-graduate diploma.
